[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]MetLife Defender is one of the best family identity theft protection programs in the market. For $44.95 per month, you can be rest assured that your entire family’s financial future is safe. The protection is backed by Met Life, a 150-year-old company with excellent financial stability and an A+ insurance rating.

MetLife Defender costs about 10% more than its competitors but our editors found the small price increase to be well worth it. Knowing your children are being monitored for any potential threat is worth the extra $5-$10 per month.

However, we wouldn’t recommend this product for single individuals. You can find comparable programs for a much lower monthly payment. One negative aspect about the program is that it doesn’t offer credit scores. Nonetheless, this is a fantastic family product and recommend for anyone who has children that they want to protect.

  1. Andrea Robinson says:

I am really impressed with their family protection plan for kids, especially because it protects against predators trying to lift personal information, medical information, and ID info. I’ve learned that companies that sell private browsing info to vendors will often sell it to hackers! Unfortunately, they either don’t know what they’re doing, or they don’t care. Especially with the cyber-bullying protection, this plan is the best for families with kids, who are so much more susceptible to all kinds of fraud. And the $5 million cap on recovery efforts is the highest, so I’d say this is the best one if you need a family plan. 🙂

  2. Jim Liston says:

The family plan with the CyberBullying Detection and Cyber Predator Protection sounds like the way to go. To have your child’s social accounts monitored and receive notification of any adults that contact your child would really be helpful. It’s really difficult to keep track of what your kids are doing online, especially with their smart phones. $495 a year is about $41 a month so it really is a pretty good deal for a large family. Thanks for the information!

  3. Martin Robertson says:

The cyber bullying is what won me over on this plan. This is so important for any family with children. The Internet can be a scary world, and cyber bullying has ruined lives in the past. I admire this company for offering something like this.

  4. Madison Jade Knox says:

Metlife is a bit steep in price, but I think they are the most dependable. My sister uses the the family one. The 5 million protection guarantee is awesome.

  5. Shalonda Gordon says:

Thanks so much for sharing this info.. I’m so excited to see a family plan. The price is a little higher than some of the other plans I’ve seen.. yet sometimes value overrides price. And I can totally see the value in being able to know if my child is being bullied or being preyed on by an adult. After all the research I’ve completed I can see how MetLife can make me feel a true sense of protection. So even though the price is higher.. I can see the value in paying it. Thank you so much for this valuable review… keep smiling

  6. papersoul says:

The family plan has some really unique features that I love. Especially for those with kids, I think its probably one of the better options. The cyber bullying monitor is such a wonderful inclusion as this kind of activity on the internet is definitely not disappearing anytime soon. With kids starting to use the web at younger ages than ever before I think this would offer lot of piece of mind. The 5mill guarantee is impressive. MetLife is the company you always here about so it was nice to see they might be worth the hype.

  7. Cheska J says:

I noticed that the price for this product is higher than most competitors, but it’s impressive that they have patented technology and it’s a good package for families who want their children to be protected. I think not everyone is aware on how huge the impact on cyber bullying actually is on children. However, I think this product is too much for those who are on a budget and those who don’t have children, there are cheaper products out there. The $5 million guarantee is cool though. I would definitely consider this if ever I have children in the future. 🙂

  8. Lejla Qerimi says:

One of the best, the right one .Children are the most precious and deserve a secure future.Ensuring their future will be good investment and appropriate action. Each parent will choose the best for the security of his children and family, metlife defender looks like a smart choice.

  9. katylady77 says:

I really am impressed with the higher package and the anti-bullying option that is included. I have a teenager and this would be a great service for him!

  10. Jennifer says:

I really like that this plan will help protect me against junk mail. I also like that it will keep my kids and family safe from those trying to hurt us. There is no better plan to get for the money. You can’t put a price on love, but this comes close.

  11. LilyJane says:

I agree with Andrea Robinson. It is so impressive and great that your company is offering cyberbullying detection and other amazing things in the family protection plan. When I have kids, I will definitely will order my kids protection in every way. It just brings that safety feeling. And everybody needs that.

  12. Jayson Stonewaller says:

I like how this system can offer services for the entire family. As a good parent, you would hope that you can keep an eye on everything that your children are into, but with the internet these days, you can really get deep into something before you are aware of it. $5 million cap is a very nice bonus, that is for sure!

  13. Pan mheg says:

Wow! It’s a must for every parent who wants to secure their children from cyber bullying or cyber crime, because it alerts your account if someone’s do that malicious thing. Really a great choice for me,Metlife is a promising insurance for families.

  14. Ramona G says:

The family plan offers the most coverage I’ve seen in comparison to other family plans. The price is the icing on the cake. Looking at the reviews it doesn’t seem to match up with some of the others I’ve seen, but based on really favorable features such as predator protection I think this is a really beneficial choice.

  15. Alyssa Williams says:

Metlife’s comprehensive family protection is incredible. I am really impressed with not only the medical information monitoring but also the cyber bullying and predator protection. Trying to protect kids from both physical and cyber threats has become even more important in this internet age. I feel more confident and secure having Metlife as a partner in keeping my family safe online.

  16. Hardeep Singh says:

Piece of mind regarding my personal information is a beautiful thing! I had a possible identity theft situation last year, & MetLife Defender was right on it! Worth every penny! Now I have that sense of security at the back of my mind that someone is protecting me from frauds! Thanks for being there!!

  17. Carlie Stevenson, PhD says:

MetLife is a little higher than some of the others, but they do offer better protection for families. I’ll keep this in mind if and when I get started on a family, but I think for now some of the other choices are a better option for me as a single person. I know that they’ve got an incredible backing, and that’s important when you consider any kind of protection. The company has to be fully solvent and stable or it can’t pay on claims.

  18. Jake Gabrial says:

Cyberbullying Detection and Cyber Predator Protection are the plans that mesmerized me more than anything else. This is vital for all the families having teenagers. And the 5 million guarantee is extraordinary.

  19. Jesse Yusufu says:

I have found MetLife Defender the best for family protection. I
used to use LifeLock, which is good, but wanted to protect my daughters
online as well. Defender was the only one to do both. Within the first
week of subscribing, I received an alert about my some bullying posts
to her social media accounts. I would have never known. It was a life
    saver.

  20. Maddie Mahoney says:

Awesome review! I am comparing various companies and this one looks like a top contender if you ask me. In terms of say, a top 5, where would you rank it?

  21. Chris D. says:

Honestly, I think you had me at “150 years and 90 million customers.” I think facts like that are among the most important to consider, because if a company wasn’t trustworthy or worth using, then there’s no way they’d last over a century and amass so many customers. It’s definitely a fact that, right from the beginning, allows me to place my trust in them, and let’s me know that they’re well worth looking into.

  22. Marc B. says:

Metlife Defender is not as flexible as other services in terms of its pricing. The individual plan is pretty steep and with limited features. But the features that they include are unique. Other identity protection services I have checked do not offer cyberbullying detection and cyber predator protection, which I think sets this service apart from the others.

I think that this is particularly useful for certain situations. If you suspect that your child is being bullied or if you want to protect your child from online predators, then this is the best choice. This service is more family-oriented and geared towards monitoring for malicious activities involving children.

  23. Kimberly Norman says:

It seems like even without a child, if you have a partner it would be most frugal to have the family plan rather than two individual accounts. Then if you do have a child, you’ll get the most bang for your buck. Their basic plan it a lot more expensive than most of the others that I’ve seen. Metlife may be most worthwhile if you have a family of 3 or more that you’d like to have protection for

  24. Jenny says:

This looks awesome — I keep reading all these articles about how cyber bullying is out of control. Sounds like this would be a good protection for children.

  25. Bronwyn says:

MetLife offers a Family Plan for 45$ and FREE 30 day trial!?!?!! This is great. MetLife Defender seems like an excellent offer with a package for the whole family. I am totally impressed by this as most other plans don’t offer this. With kids too, it is incredibly reassuring to know that this plan defends against cyber bullying too. The internet can be a cruel world for young teens so I am glad this plan offers support on that front too!

  26. Erica says:

After reviewing the pricing and the details of this product I easily see the need for it. With children having access to social media sites at increasingly younger ages parents can’t be everywhere to monitor their children. This plan I guess is best for families and not individuals. So please check out all the plans available that suits your lifestyle.

  27. Erica says:

Free 30 day trial is awesome. You can not beat that. If I had children I will definitely get this plan and it is worth the money.

  28. Kamila says:

This seems like a great option for my family, I love the Cyber Predator and Cyber Bullying protection plans, it makes MetLife Defender different from other products. The price is fine considering that it would cover the 4 of us. Are there any other data protection plans with a special family plan?

  29. Andrew S says:

MetLife Defender is a subsidiary of one of the largest insurance companies in the world, so there is no issue of reliability. Moreover, it has an industry leading $5 million identity theft insurance which makes it a good plan. On the whole, MetLife Defender offers the essential assurance which many are searching for in an identity protection plan. Be that as it may, its plans are considerably costlier than their rivals’ and it doesn’t offer credit score.

  30. J. Paul says:

Great information in this review. I can vouch for the usefulness of something that monitors your financial situation. Definitely helps you stop ID theft quickly should be targeted. At the very least, I would always have credit monitoring active. That’s a solid first line of defense.

  31. Shon says:

I don’t think people take cyber bullying, kids and their excessive use of the internet along with their extensive social networks, or identity theft seriously. Or maybe it isn’t that people don’t take cyber crimes seriously, they aren’t aware of how potentially threatening they are and/or they believe, for some reason or another, their family won’t be targeted.

The fact of the matter is cyber crimes are and have been steadily on the rise. That means everyone has the potential to be a target. Unfortunately, kids are the most vulnerable and often times specifically targeted. Whether a your child is targeted by a bully or someone looking to profit from their identity, it turns out that MetLife has options you can afford. Protecting your child against unknown adults trying to contact them should actually cost more, if you ask me.

To be honest, I didn’t believe this was something I should afford, but then I had to think. Like most others, I live paycheck-to-paycheck. But, with both of my kids having access to the family computer and tablets of their own, (I am no computer whiz) I know there are no parental controls that can protect against a diligent hacker. And while my kids aren’t at the age where they can have social accounts of their own, it’s still nerve wrecking thinking someone could steal their identity. Knowing that my kids will be protected against identity thieves is as valuable as knowing should ANY malicious activity occur while my children are online I will be notified and the breach will be investigated.

I understand that I have limited funds, but I also understand the cost of not having this service is far greater. Should my kid’s information get into the wrong hands, I’d be … no … we would be financially crippled for an extended period of time which is something my family, in no way, shape, or form, could afford. By having this service, I can be secure knowing if anyone in my family is compromised, there is already a $5 million dollar budget in place to pay for the things I need to get through the process of clearing my name and credit which takes a significant amount of time, ESPECIALLY, for someone who doesn’t really have money.

Aside from the fact me and my family are protected against cyber crimes such as cyber bullying and identity theft, there are other perks. While I won’t name them all, I think a very valuable tool MetLife Defender offers with their family protection packages is the junk mail opt out. In order to reduce the amount of junk mail and pre-approved offers they remove your name from marketing databases. If you are impulsive like me then this is an extremely valuable part of the package. For one, I never really know who those offers are coming from and secondly, I fall for them all of the time which is as dangerous as it is costly. Not seeing them makes it easier for me to not open them.

I think the greatest thing that comes with these family packages, though, is the 24/7 customer support center. Knowing I can call at anytime and speak to a highly trained professional whose job it is to make sure my family is protected at all times on the internet is priceless, if you ask me. Their service is to protect you and your family online and the customer service agents are there to secure you with their voice in real life and in real time. They will happily talk you through each feature of your package and it’s benefits to make sure you are using their service to it’s fullest potential. I don’t know about you, but I am always extra happy to pay a little more for exceptional customer service. In the event you come across a company that offers lower rates always remember you get what you pay for. Are they going to be willing to do what it takes to become a household name the way MetLife is and has been for over 150 years? From how I see it, MetLife is dedicated to building lasting relationships through their products and services. With MetLife Defender, customer service reps are genuinely there to make sure you and your family are totally secure and have a piece of mind.

I totally recommend MetLife Defender. I recommend this service in such a way that if you are not calling them right now to set up your coverage, then you are who I am speaking of at the very beginning. You aren’t taking cyber crimes seriously, nor are you taking the fact your children have the potential to be targeted by unknown adults. This is something you really want to consider for your household. Your financial future could be impacted for quite a while should your personal financial data winds up on the dark side of the web.

  32. Pam says:

It seems kind of silly that the individual protection doesn’t cover cyber. It should all cover cyber because that’s what so much identity theft happens. I think MetLife needs to create a third option to cover individuals who need more protection than they’re offering.

  33. Wilbert Estrada says:

As a proud father, I’m glad to say that my daughter just turned 17 this year, but with the passing of time, I was forced to stop and think about her future, and I realize that she will soon be an adult and as all of us (adults), she will have an Identity to worry about, so I decided to investigate about this matter and what I found out horrified me… According to Security Magazine and other sources, 10% of the children are identity theft victims. That’s 10 out of 100 children. THAT IS ALARMING!

As I researched more and more, I found that there’s a good reason for child identity theft to happen. Children are more vulnerable because they simply don’t check their personal information as often as an adult, so it could take a long time before an identity theft is discover.

As a parent, I’m not taking any chances… I’m not going to gamble my daughter’s future. Her entire life and financial wellbeing depends on what I do today, so I’m posting this comment to thank the people at MetLife Defender, which I found to be the best company after doing a thorough research. MetLife Defender, not only protects my daughter’s identity, but also, protects her from any online predator and from “Cyberbullying” which has become a major threat to children as technology increases with each passing day. If you’re a parent like me, don’t let another day go by… think about your children, don’t gamble their future… don’t wait till is too late!

  34. Wilbert Estrada says:

Hi Alyssa… You couldn’t be more right. the cyber bullying and predator protection could be a lifesaver for our children… people don’t understand that, from the safety of our homes, our children could be playing russian roulette… there are a lot of sick people out there!
