LifeLock Review

LifeLock Review

Identity theft has increasingly become a common occurrence, especially in the US. The US Federal Trade commission has documented more than 15 million identity theft cases in recent years. This makes it among the fastest growing criminal enterprises. To address the problem, several companies have sprung up to provide commercial identity theft protection services.

Among the most well known such companies is, LifeLock. This company has won several prestigious business awards and has in excess of 4 million clients. It’s also listed on the New York Stock Exchange.

Pricing and features

LifeLock offers three protection plans. LifeLock Standard is the basic package, and it costs $9.99 per month (or $109.89 yearly). The next package is the Lifelock Advantage, priced at $19.99 per month (or $109.89 yearly). At the top is the Lifelock Ultimate Plus plan, costing $29.99 (or $329.89 yearly).

All the plans feature 24-hour phone support, identity theft recovery and website monitoring (which verifies that a customer’s information is not on sale online). Both the Advantage and Ultimate Plus packages include monitoring of credit reports, public record scans and data breach and bank account alerts. The Ultimate Plus plan also has additional monitoring of online activities, credit institution reports, sex offender reports and extra financial alerts.

However, if a client wants to include other family members, a full price must be paid for each of them. The company has also introduced the Lifelock Junior add-on for children under18, priced at $5.99 per month. This is a service designed to protect a child’s identity, and it also includes Internet and credit scanning activities.

LifeLock guarantees to invest up to $1 million to hire experts, lawyers, investigators, consultants and any other people required to ensure recovery. In such circumstances, the customer has to give the company power of attorney to facilitate proper identity cleanup and recovery.
